The Blue Atelier

The first design concept was based on the initial brief to keep things simple. This misinterpretation of the brief was laughed about in the later stages as we were introduced to the quirky and open sensibilities of our clients. This gave us the scope to experiment with the use of colours, textures, and materials as we customised this 3BHK home for the young couple. We were asked to vary the colours in different spaces to avoid the monotony of having a repetitive vibe to the whole house, thus we curated a palette that was a mix of a few base elements that would ground the whole home and a few elements that transitioned in subtle ways to switch up the feel of the space. 

The Ceiling height of the Foyer was reduced to flush with the bottom of a beam separating it from the Living area. The walls and ceiling of this space have been painted a shade of light Blue to exaggerate the transition from the modest foyer into the open living spaces.

A floor-to-ceiling metal partition demarcates the living area from the Puja space. It does so without creating a visual disconnect between the spaces and thus promoting the openness of the plan.  The cement wall creates the perfect backdrop for the Puja and Living area by tying them together.

The large custom dining table was made of a white quartz top and two central pillars supports. The teak beading detail continues in them, binding the rest of the woodwork.

The master bedroom went through a few options of color schemes as the clients wanted something that made a statement yet did not seem too loud.  The neutral shade of white was repeated in the shutters of the storage unit of the study and Library unit.

The other 2 bedrooms were designed as Guest rooms with a simpler and elegant design details.
